How Do I Love Thee, Let Me Count the Ways

So why do I love God so much? Let me tell you…

He first loved me, when I was not very loveable.

He created the heavens and the earth.

He created me.

He sends the rain and the sun on the just and unjust.

He protects me.

He teaches me.

He died to save me.

He washed away my sins in his own blood.

He is full of lovingkindness.

He is slow to anger.

He is faithful, even when we are not faithful.

He does not lie.

He is the most powerful.

He made cats (one is trying to sit on my keyboard).

His creation is so incredible! It is beautiful and majestic.

He made rules to keep us safe, like a good and loving father.

He takes us by the hand and leads us so carefully, like the Israelites through the desert.

He does mighty acts of wonder, to show us about his might and glory, like parting the red sea.

He is patient with us, giving us a chance to learn.

He is just, and his justice requires that sin be punished.

He took that punishment on himself.

He lets even wicked men live out their lives on earth, for however long that is.

He cleanses us from all unrighteousness, when we submit ourselves to him for cleaning.

He works on cleaning us one issue at a time, usually, giving us time to learn to live righteously.

He has given us absolutely amazing promises:

If we abide in him, follow him, He gives us eternal life and we can always be with him.

He has gone to prepare a place for us!

The meek will inherit the earth.

Those who abide in him will never be snatched out of his hand.

Whatever we ask of him in Jesus’ name, he will do.

If we persevere and keep his Word, He will keep us from the hour of trial coming on the whole world.

He promises us rest.

He promises to supply all our needs.

No weapon formed against me will prosper.

He promises that all things will work together for our good if we love him.

He keeps his promises.

Abundant life springs forth from him.

He freed me from my bondage to sin.

He gave me the new birth: I am born again. The old me has died away.

He is all powerful and mighty, yet takes the time to listen to the prayers of a tiny person like me.

He answers prayers!

He is my refuge and strength, a very ready help in trouble.

His angers lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts for a lifetime.

He makes the wicked fall into the pit they have dug for others.

He is rich in mercy.

He is light and in him there is no darkness at all.

Well, I could go on and on… God is good! He is worthy of all our praise and adoration and obedience!
