Santa Claus Jesus

What does it mean to claim that Jesus is a god of only peace and love?

1. It mean calling Jesus a liar. In Matthew 10, Jesus says, "34 “Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I came to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; 36 and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household."

2. It means denying the truth of most of the Bible. If you're going to deny the truth of the Bible, why bother with it at all? There are hundreds of references to God's judgments on sinful mankind in the Old and New Testaments. There are hundreds just referring to the coming Day of the Lord when all mankind will be judged. These judgments are anything but peaceful, but you could make a case for saying they are loving. What father does not correct his child? It would be unloving not to do so.

3. It denies that God has any justice. God created mankind out of nothing. He has put up with us NEVER doing what was right. Would it be right that murderers, rapists, theives who never repent of their ways are rewarded for their evil lives? Would it be right that Satan, who had the one of the highest positions in heaven, but who tried to take the glory from the Creator of All be rewarded for all the evil he's done? God made everything, and He gets to decide what is good and what is evil. This is His planet, His universe, His creation. He certainly knows more than we do, and can judge what needs to happen to bring about His goals and His plans.

Deuteronomomy 32:39
‘See now that I, I am He,
And there is no god besides Me;
It is I who put to death and give life.
I have wounded and it is I who heal,
And there is no one who can deliver from My hand.
40 ‘Indeed, I lift up My hand to heaven,
And say, as I live forever,
41 If I sharpen My flashing sword,
And My hand takes hold on justice,
I will render vengeance on My adversaries,
And I will repay those who hate Me.
42 ‘I will make My arrows drunk with blood,
And My sword will devour flesh,
With the blood of the slain and the captives,
From the long-haired leaders of the enemy.’

4. The Bible has many examples of God using war to bring about His judgment on a sinning nation. To deny this is to call God unjust and a liar. And who are you to judge God? Can you create a planet out of nothingness? Can you create a man from the elements even? Can you create the elements out of nothing?

If you're going to make up your own god to worship, why don't you give your false idol some other name than the precious name of Jesus? You want your Santa Claus Jesus that just gives wonderful things, but doesn't even have Santa's 'naughty list'. There ARE wonderful things for those who obey God's commands, but there is no denying the other end, that God's judgment will come on those who refuse His sacrifice on their behalf.
